Transitions
There are spaces and times when life is in a state of transition. It’s a quiet existence where movement and change can feel like a strong undercurrent. Sometimes, we know transition is happening, and sometimes, we don’t see it coming. I think the most challenging times are when we didn’t foresee it coming, or maybe we did and just weren’t prepared. In these times, we must trust the process and stay our course. We must exist in the transition, knowing that life is ever-flowing and changing and desires us to flourish. Transitions are like seedlings that have been planted but have yet to reveal their beauty. Under the soil, growth, movement, life, and possibility are thriving.
So, what seedlings are you planting today? Sometimes, we have specific intentions for our lives, so we know the seedlings we need to grow. Other times, the unknown about our future makes it equally important to plant seedlings of patience, virtue, acceptance, strength, truth, perseverance, and beauty. And it’s in the challenging times that we will be thankful we planted, nourished, watered, and cared for these seedlings in the personal garden of our soul.
I thought about this recently, as life has been wielding specific challenges—challenges that seem unfair, brutal, and relentless. And yet, when I sit quietly and meditate on what path to take, what action or inaction to choose, I am also grateful that months ago, or even years ago, I was cultivating a personal garden of seedlings that would reveal their beauty and strength when their time was needed. It doesn’t mean that the challenging times are not difficult; it means that we have everything we need to flourish, maintain, and move through the transition gracefully. There is no weapon formed against me that will thrive because my soul garden is ripe with all the sustenance I need. I trust that as it is, it is meant to be. I trust the transition process and know beauty also abounds, and if I stay on a righteous course, that which is good will always prevail, and I know I will prevail.
Plant seedlings in your soul carefully and methodically. Do it often and with intention. Plant and cultivate love abundantly in and around your life. But above all, don’t get lost in the weeds; remember to tend to your soul garden and pluck out the weeds! I have come to love and embrace transitions in my life. I keep my soul garden nourished and watered for what I see and cannot see. Through all transitions, I know that beauty and love exist within and through the journey, so may it be for you.
